brandi’s story

Brandi has been coaching fitness for over 7 years and came from a background in competitive CrossFit where the goal was always to be faster than her opponent, even if it meant incorrect form. This lead her down a painful path of doctors’ visits and injections with no avail. Fortunately, Brandi eventually found refuge with Soma Therapy and ELODA. She believes having the ability to help those who suffer is the greatest reward as an instructor.

here’s what she wants you to know

Changes don’t happen overnight. ELDOA is a method that warrants constant practice to achieve its (amazing) results. “Micromovements for MACRO gains.”

what is eldoa?

Developed by French osteopath Guy VOYER, ELDOA is an acronym from French words which, in English, translates to longitudinal osteoarticular decoaptation stretches.

Each posture, or ELDOA, is designed to "create space" within a precise joint or a segment of the spine using myofascial tension and muscle contraction. You can expect improvement in posture, joint mechanics, relief from pain, reduced pressure on the spinal discs, as well as building muscle tone.

It’s hard to put into words, but you immediately feel that you’ve done something different, that you’ve pushed your body in a very unique way.

what can i expect?

Classes will be a mixture of Posture Exercises and Myofascial Stretching. In this practice, expect increase of body awareness, increase of blood flow, space created between vertebrae, depress the nerve between the vertebrae, improve proprioception of the vertebral joint segment, hydrate the intervertebral disc, and more! At a quick glance, the postures seem simple and easy, but there is much precision in order to achieve the benefits when doing and ELDOA.

myofascial Stretching…?

Myofascial Stretching focuses on creating healthy tension on a fascial line to target a specific muscle in order to create change. The muscles cannot come into balance if the fascia surrounding the muscle, muscle fibers and muscle cells aren’t in balance.

so, it’s sort of like yoga?

Not really. The key distinction between ELDOA vs yoga is that yoga encourages a more fluid and meditative mindset, and ELDOA is more analytical. There may be some overlap in the appearances of a few postures, but the ELDOA poses are specifically influencing individual joints.

We find that ELDOA is great for those with aches in the joints, back, shoulder, lower back, neck, and disc bulge/herniation. Or if you have a desk job, have a far commute, slouch, poor posture or headaches.

ELODA is accessible to everyone no matter age, injury, and physical or emotional limitation!
